Veeezy update!

Hi, how are you today? Great, I hope! Did you have a good week? What were some of the highlights? some of the low lights? I like to ask myself that once in awhile (mid day, end of day, any time really), just to bring my head back together and regroup for the next moment. Its a great way to wash away any bad moments of your day and rejuvenate yourself with the good ones.

It’s been a busy week, but a great one at that. They say don’t mix business and pleasure, but BUSINESS IS MY PLEASURE. You really gotta do what you love, and love what you do – and if you’re able to do that, then consider yourself lucky. I’m still trying to find that myself but I feel like I’m taking the necessary steps to get there. Are you?

For those wondering how my fashion seminar w/ Splendid for Pacific Centre’s I AM DOWNTOWN Event went, it was fun!

It was a  bit surreal to see my name on permanent ink but it was kind of nice (I’m lying, iI totally geeked out hehe). The girls at Splendid were amazing and I’m so glad I did it. Full details of the event can be found here. _____________________________________________________________________

And last but def not least, the ladies and I at Honeydrip are working on hard on our latest drops! We showed everyone a preview the other day, in case you missed it – here it is:

Ankle bangle/cuff – It’s kind of really hot.

It’s actually a multi-purpose bangle as you can see, but style it any way and it’d still be dope! We’ve already gotten folks asking for theirs to be put on hold – limited quantity so make you don’t sleep on these. They drop next week so stay tuned!

I just read today’s Honeydrip post by Doobs, and burst out laughing. You can’t knock a pretty girl with a killer humor. Love my team! But def peep the post if you’re into vampires, or into cool shit, period.

Dum dum do day! Can’t believe the weekend is here already, that shit cray, bro… forserious. I’m just eggcited to chill and do some work. Gon’ make biscuits, country gravy with fried chicken, bacon and egg tonight, wish me luck! Have a great weekend, boo faces. xo.

Veeezy x I AM DOWNTOWN Shopping Event tonight @ Pacific Center

One of my favorite go to motivational quotes is “If you don’t try, the answer is always no.” Meaning, the outcome is always a fail if I haven’t put forth any real effort in succeeding.

The same goes for doing something new and leaving my comfort zone, if the thought of the situation scares me – odds are I should be doing it.

When Pacific Center reached out to have me be part of their I AM DOWNTOWN event tonight (full event deets here), I was really eggcited… I thought I’d parade around the mall in my non wrinkliest outfit, pretend mingle (I hate small talk and repetitive pleasantries. I know, I’m in the wrong industry huh), maybe eat some food, shop a bit. Turns out they wanted me to do a presentation with one of their retailers. As soon as I read their request, I was like UH FML, and replied immediately with “Yes, I’m in!”

Truth be told, I’m so scurred! I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m really eggcited to be teaming up with Splendid for a presentation for shoppers on their latest must have pieces. Come say hi and bring me presents at 7:45 at the Splendid Punch Card station, or not. I think I’d much rather make a fool of myself to strangers. Or whatever I don’t care. I’m just eggcited to be doing something different and getting the crap scared out of myself. Whats the worse that could happen, I could suck? But the upside is, I could not suck yay!

Anyways here are some lookbook samples they sent me -

I’m so in love with those Geo Dot pants! ($148). Everything looks so comfy and snuggle friendly, totally my type of shiz. Anyways, I hope you do something great for yourself today – the mind and spirit are always in need of nourishment and growth. Have a wonderful fantastic over the top can’t help but smile world series type of day. xo.

72 hours of pure INDULGENCE.

I find resurrecting after a long weekend is always the hardest, not even a long night of partying with an accompanying hangover can beat this feeling of “sigh, already?” Especially when it’s spent the opposite way of my work week. It was sooo relaxing- free of scheduled lunches, late night meetings, agenda preparation, material research, blog postings etc. Instead the majority of the 72 hours were spent snuggling in & out of bed with this furry face -

Cooking dinner (medium rare steak, spicy rose sauce pasta, garlic mash and honey chicken wings) and then breakfast – the left over mashed potatoes and chicken were turned into balls and fried to make potato cakes, yum! There was also a lot of eating ice cream from the tub (remedies for when missing my sister)

Multiple episodes of Breaking Bad, and maybe only a handful of times of leaving the nest for necessities – caramel macchiatos, hot pot, birthday celebrations – might I add my first experience at Hooker’s Green was a good one, drinksies with the crew and more importantly with my Nigs, celebrating her upcoming trip to Hawaii and a big leap into a new role for her career, so proud of you love! I think it’s moments like these where I feel the most happiest – when I see friends and family growing and going after what they want. People always talk about change, but rarely does it ever leave the realm of “talk.” I’ve learned to stop lending my support to those that say they want better but have taken no steps in getting there. I would rather give my love to someone like Nigs who has never let me down (without good reason ha!) and is a woman of love, warmth and integrity. That my friend, is what we call real. My ride or die, congrats again! love you so much xo.

Okay so where were we? Oh right, things I did this weekend -trips to the dog park…

And even a high tea session at Secret Garden in Kerrisdale on a rainy Sunday afternoon, followed by some retail lusting at Hills.

High tea was a nice surprise and lot of fun, perfect for a lazy day with nothing to do but eat and talk about dirty things over crumpets and tea. Hmmm, come to think of it – it seems like I left the nest more than I thought I did lol.

I hope you all had a great long weekend as i did. Came into work this morning and was just ready to take on my day! Thats what a weekend should do for you, rejuvenate and get you going for the next 5 days (as hard as the initial hour or 2 may be). Thanks for taking your time to read this, I hope it’s given you an incentive to enjoy what time we have left here. Tomorrow isn’t promised so make sure you give more today than you did yesterday bc excuses are for people who don’t want it bad enough. I think it’s better to be realistic and know which side you’re on so that you don’t spend so much of your time fooling others. Anyways, just some text for thought. Happy Tuesday, xo.

TANGOO!

Some of the crew behind my writing fam jam, Vancitybuzz, recently launched Tangoo, Vancouver’s first ever multi venue dining eggsperience (in a nutshell). It’s a seamless dining adventure that takes you to 3 different locations for drinks, appys, dinner, dessert and so on. It’s like making your own burger, check off which venue you want to attend for each phase, there are 3- drinks and apps, dinner and dessert, then finally drinks at a final destination to end the night, or get it started.

It’s perfect for a little food hopping and mingling. Last night I brought a handful of homies out and we got our Tangoo on.

First stop – Taste Lounge at FiveSixty.

I’ve never been so this was a nice treat. The venue was really nice, ambiance was warm, inviting and just right for a cold Thursday evening. We talked, mingled, had a cocktail and got our eat on.

You can opt to sit at a regular table or a huge picnic family style table. Cheeses were divine, and the sandwiches were the perfect snack to send us off to our next venue.

Second stop – La Casita

Portions were big and the food was really good. Steak Tampiquena / Chicken Mole enchilada.

Even though we were stuffed, dinner is never complete without a little something sweet at the end.

Margaritas all around! / churro ice cream sundae (mmm) and tres leches cake, love!

Third stop – Vancouver Fanclub

…which we never made to lol. We were too eggshausted from eating and enjoying each others company that a missed 3rd stop didnt seem that important :)

Seamless night of food, drinks and venue hopping, all for $50 tax and tip included. Super affordable and most of all, the guys behind Tangoo are sweet as sugar. Congrats on such a neat and innovative venture! Their next night is Nov 22 and the venue selection is even better than the last.

Hope you guys have a great long weekend. I have big plans of indulging, maybe some bad TV, and lots of snuggling. see you next week, xo.

Live well, eat GOOD.

Hi, guuud moooanin’! The clocks are set back an hour, the evening skies get dark a little quicker now and my body is asking for winter insulation. Who am I to deny my needs, right? I know everyone has some sort of body issue one way or another (myself included) but sometimes you just need to be a little mindless and indulge. This weekend I gave in to all of my cravings and indulged like tomorrow wasn’t promised. Needless to say, i have no regrets!

Trattoria

Half/half Prosciutto di Parma & Formaggio pizza / Parmigiano reggiano risotto / truffled spaghetti with Wagyu meatballs.

Cold and rainy nights I find are the best evenings for carbing up. Whether it be a steaming bowl of creamy rice or flavorful pasta and perfect crusted pizza- it’s the ultimate comfort food for a cozy evening in (or out in our case). Great company, great carbs, my ideal night.

Hy’s Steakhouse

Crab cakes w/ in house slaw / prime rib x baked potato with the works / buttermilk fried chicken w/ creamed corn / creme brulee

Sometimes it’s nice to try something new (and fancy) but just bc a joint is known for their steak doesn’t mean you can’t have something else! B opted for the prime rib and of course, in true Veeezy fashion I settled on Buttermilk fried chicken as soon as my eyes read it on the menu. The creamed corn was a great balance with the crunchy chicken and dinner wouldn’t be dinner without something sweet. Creme brulee was the obvious choice (isn’t it always?).

Kirin

pork dumplings / steamed dumplings with consumme / taro cakes / shrimp dumplings / BBQ pork pastries

After a long night of partying (forget the odd hip swaying here and there, we’re talking about full on body thrashing, pelvic thrusting, fist pumping action) – theres not much that will satisfy the mind and spirit besides dim sum. I call this the comfort food for Asians, everything is either fried or steamed (mmm grease) and always piping hot. The variety is spectacular as well, perfect for a scatter brain like myself. Kirin is a  bit fancier as their dim sum is menu order only, i’m more of a push cart type of gal but after the previous night of complete debeauchery – i’d eat just about anything.

And if you’re wondering what preceeded that much needed dim sum meal – I was out partying with my TOML crew and enjoying the music of Benny Benassi.

Had to show my east coast homies some love! Thanks to Anna, Ray and Joe for an epic night xo.

And now concluding last night’s end of weekend meal-

Homemade hot pot, did you think this wasn’t going to be included in my epic weekend of eating? Aw, come on now. There’s nothing more fun than active eating with friends and family, especially when it’s on a rainy cold Sunday evening. As you can tell, I’m really milking this weather to my benefit and it doesn’t seem like I’ll be stopping any time soon.

Take the time to indulge in food, friends, and good company. Whether it be a cheat meal or a night out on the town – our lives’ happiness are made of small pleasures, it’s important we keep that pleasure bank full and fed. A life without these small joys is a life not really living at all, now is it? Go enjoy yourself today, you deserve it. xo.
