Did you know that you can have a great day, every single day? The type of day you have is dictated none other by you? it’s kind of crazy (and very empowering) to think that each day you are able to have an amazing day , a long day, or a bad day, all according to what you want. You get to choose what type of day you have, seriously. Every time I wake up on the wrong side of the bed and tell myself my day is fucked, I’m reminded of what I always preach, “Laws of Attraction,” what you give out is what you get back in return.
Last week there was a day where I woke up late, had to rush through my morning, made a fruit smoothie, spilt it all over myself (like literally I was drenched in blueberry pulp), changed (again), got to my car, and then realized I had 2 flats. That was really enough for me to want to chalk it up to a “shit” day but I couldn’t help but laugh at my ridiculous misfortunes. Late, smoothie stains still on my toes, no car- and should’ve been at work 20 minutes ago. Instead of being angry and spending the rest of my day in a funk, I chose the latter and started fresh as soon as I was done laughing. On my way to work I greeted morning walkers with a “good morning,” and a smile, took the time to text some of my favorite people, and sang along to some Frank Ocean while walking into work. It was a great day! I don’t really know where I’m going with this story but I just wanted to tell you how you think has a direct connection to how you live.
Shit happens, that’s a given. Not every day will be sunshine and rainbows, there will be days where you get shat on and the world seems to be closing in on you but it’s not what happens that matters, it’s how you react to it. Everyone always seems to have a sob story, this happened to me blah blah blah. But what are you doing to make yourself better? I will only let someone complain if they follow it up with how they are going to make themselves better and/or solve the situation. Yesterday I was stuck in 60 minutes of traffic and I called B to complain (and laugh out of frustration), he gave me 3 seconds to yell at the top of my lungs – it worked!
Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you’ll never ever have enough. This is one of my favorite quotes by Oprah. We’re always chasing a dream, fancy dinners, nice clothes, new phone etc. All of that is absolutely okay, it’s normal to want pretty things! As long as when it comes down to it, you know what is real and what is not. A person that is thankful knows that he/she feels the same worthiness with or without the expensive bag / the pretty car etc. That the things most valuable in life are actually not things. Anyways, I really hope you go out and have yourself a super, fabulous, make it count, world series, great- type of day, because you my friend, have the power to make it happen.
Love you, xo.
